The Friends of Lake Forest Library are pleased to announce they will be awarding a minimum of two $1000 senior scholarships in May of 2010 to students who clearly demonstrate a passion for reading. Graduating high school seniors who are residents of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff or Knollwood are eligible to apply for this award. The scholarship application consists of an application form, a 500-word essay, and a recommendation from an adult. Lake Forest High School students must apply through the College/Career Resource Center at Lake Forest High School. Scholarship applications will be available there by mid-February, and must be returned by March 19, 2010. Eligible students at other high schools may print an application found on the Lake Forest Library Website at www.lakeforestlibrary.org. These applications must be postmarked by March 19, 2010. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
In 2003, Friends of Lake Forest Library inaugurated the senior scholarship program to recognize students in whose lives reading plays an integral and enriching role.
Funds for these awards come from the proceeds of the annual Book Sale held every September.
