Children’s Literature Review Available Remotely

Criticism of major works of children’s literature. Browse by title, author, or topic, or search by keywords or phrases. From the Gale databases page, select Literature Criticism Online to search the Children’s Literature Review

Electronic Collections Online (ECO) No Remote Access

A FirstSearch database of scholarly journals with article citations or
the full text from many arts and literature titles. 1995 to the present.
Updated daily. From FirstSearch’s home page, select ECO as the
database to search.

Freegal Music  Available Remotely

Downloadable MP3 music tracks from Sony Music Entertainment’s catalog containing thousands of artists and over 100 genres of music.  Each Lake Forest Library cardholder can download 3 tracks per week beginning each Monday.  Once logged in, a usage counter in the upper right corner of the page shows you how many downloads you have used.  Access Freegal Music from the library’s website, enter your Lake Forest Library card number, and then search for your selections.  You can listen to a 30 second clip of a track before deciding to download it.  To download, select “download now,” and save it to your desktop.  Once the track is on your desktop, you can play it from your computer or move it to your iTunes or other MP3 library for transferring to your MP3 player.  


Gale Virtual Reference Library Available Remotely& App Available

Encyclopedias and reference sources on many topics including arts
and literature. Search individual titles or the entire collection at once.
From the Gale databases page, select Gale Virtual Reference Library.
Then view publications under arts and literature.

Good Reads Available Remotely
Book reviews, information on hundreds of authors, and book lists for all ages, including best sellers and award-winning titles. Receive reviews of recommended books in your favorite genres delivered to your inbox by signing up for BookLetters email newsletter service.

NextReads Available Remotely

Choose favorite subjects and genres from more than 20 fiction and non-fiction reading lists. Lists will be sent directly to your inbox with titles linked to the library’s catalog for ease in checking availability. Frequency of lists varies
from bi-monthly to monthly.

NoveList Plus Available Remotely

An EBSCO database about novels and popular nonfiction titles. Includes summaries, reviews, popularity ranking, and links to similar titles. Many different award lists and title lists by genre, theme, and series name. Book discussion
guides for some titles and author read-alike articles for many popular
authors.

Something About the Author Available Remotely

Examines the lives and works of authors and illustrators for children and young adults. Browse by author or search by keyword. Entries include biographies (with photographs), autobiographies, and obituaries. From the Gale Databases page, select Something About the Author.
