LAKE FOREST LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING AND EXECUTIVE SEESION MINUTES
Tuesday, March 14, 2006

MINUTES

Present: President Smock; Trustees Bacon, Duncan, Pierson, Plandowski, Thornburgh, and Young; Martha Turewicz, Youth Liaison; Administrative Librarian Grabbe; and Administrative Assistant Grasmick.

Absent: Trustees Garrett and Palmer.

President Smock called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Trustee Plandowski moved that the minutes of the February 14 meeting be approved. Trustee Pierson seconded. Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report:

Personnel: Joy McGreevy has joined the Children’s Library as a circulation assistant.

Services: The District #67 art open house will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 in the Children’s Library.

Art work of District #67 Junior High School students is currently on display in the Fine Arts Room.

The public pay phone is no longer earning enough money to be offered at no cost. AT&T will charge the library $75.00 per month to keep the pay phone. Since there are two pay phones at the train station and the library has a long-standing policy of letting children (or adults in an emergency) use a staff phone, the board agreed to have the pay phone removed.

Miscellaneous: The City’s Board and Commissions Dinner is scheduled for Friday, May 12 th.

The February Year-to-Date report was distributed.

Committee Reports:

Services: No report.

Long Range Planning: No report.

Finance: No report. The FY07 budget was discussed. The committee recommends adoption of the proposed budget.

Trustee Duncan moved to approve the FY07 budget. Trustee Plandowski seconded. Motion carried.

NSLS: The new eAudiobook consortium was discussed.

The 2007 Legislative Breakfast is scheduled for February 19, 2007.

Friends: The Annual Program will be held on Wednesday, April 19 th at 4:00 p.m. at Gorton Community Center. Barbara Rinella will be performing a dramatization of Teacher Man : A Memoir by Frank McCourt.

Old Business: Today is Mrs. Grabbe’s 18 th anniversary with the Lake Forest Library.

New Business: The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 11, 2006.

The evaluation of the Administrative Librarian is scheduled for next month’s meeting.

No one addressed the Board.

Trustee Young moved that the meeting be adjourned; Trustee Bacon seconded. Motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m.

The Board members reviewed the job performance of the Administrative Librarian for the past year. A salary increase was recommended and approved for the coming year.
