Present: President Young; Trustees Champ, Dettling, Gibson, Hull, Miserendino, Pierson, and Westropp; Youth Liaison, Cynthia Stamelos; Administrative Librarian Grabbe; and Administrative Assistant Grasmick.

Absent: Trustee Barnett.

President Young called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

There were no changes or corrections to the minutes of the April 12 meeting.

Trustee Hull moved to accept the minutes of April 12, 2011. Trustee Gibson seconded. Motion carried.

Administrative Librarian’s Report:

Maintenance: The front door has been replaced.

Trustee Dettling entered the meeting at 7:34 p.m.

We are making good progress on the signage project and should make the final choices at the next meeting.

The web site redesign is moving along more slowly, but is moving ahead.

Services: The DVD2GO machine is working well. 360 items were checked out in the first three weeks of use.

We are gearing up for the summer reading programs. All trustees are invited to join our adult summer reading program.

The March statistics and March financials were distributed.

The April financial draft 1 was distributed. We are in good shape and have a healthy reserve. The materials budget is over due to the cost of electronic resources.

Periodicals are also over budget. Prices have risen due to the economic downturn.

Committee Reports:

Services: No report.

Long Range Planning: No report.

Finance: No report.

NSLS: There is a new web site for RAILS ( Reaching Across Illinois Library System). The URL is: . The NSLS web site is no longer in operation. No changes are expected after the July 1 merger. Unless the NSLS building is sold, delivery will continue as usual. Trustee Dettling’s term with the NSLS board is ending and she will not seek a position on the RAILS board.

The money that libraries gifted to NSLS has been returned to the libraries. Two of the delivery trucks have logged over 100,000 miles. The purchase of a new truck is being considered.

Friends: The Children’s Used Book Sale will take place on June 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Barbara Rinella’s program on April 21 had 241 attendees and most of them were local residents. Ms. Rinella is scheduled to perform Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26 and The Paris Wife: A Novel by Paula McLain at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Gorton Community Center.

2,200 book donations were received in the past 4 days.

Trustee Gibson moved to approve the slate of officers for FY11/12. Trustee Pierson seconded. Motion carried.
