Administrative Librarian's Report:

Equipment: The MediaBank DVD dispenser has been delivered to the west side train station. The internet line is being installed. Our trainer is arriving on Thursday. We still hope to be up and running by the end of the year.

Services: The League of Women Voters registered ten voters on September 4 th. The usual number registered is two or three.

Miscellaneous: Mrs. Grabbe will do a Community Spotlight on the library at the November 1 st City Council Meeting. Trustees are welcome to attend.

The August 2010 Year-to-Date was distributed.

August statistics were distributed.

Committee Reports:

Services: No report.

Long Range Plan: No report.

Finance: The committee met tonight to discuss the FY12 levy. They will submit recommendations for a vote at the next board meeting.

NSLS: They received federal grant money today, but are still waiting for state money owed. They have funds to run van delivery to the end of the year.

The ad hoc delivery committee has received quotes from three delivery service firms to use as an alternative in the event that the state ceases funding.

ILL traffic has been reduced by 44% due to changes in the way holds are processed.

Friends: The sale grossed approximately $124,000 this year. Cash and check sales were comparable to last year, but credit card sales were down. There were more books than ever—about 120,000. Traffic was good and it was nice to be inside on a rainy Saturday. Leftover books have many homes—the Katrina area, Africa, North Chicago, the military, the McHenry County Defenders, and other area not-for-profit organizations.

Barbara Rinella is performing October 18, at 3:30 p.m. in the Gorton Auditorium. She will be presenting American Jennie: The Remarkable Life of Lady Randolph Churchill by Anne Sebba.

Opportunity for the public to address the Board: No one addressed the Board.

Trustee Barnett moved and Trustee Dettling seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Catherine Miserendino,
Secretary
