Lake Forest Library Wins Preservation Foundation Award

The Lake Forest Library won an award from the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation for its “preservation of the original building” while adding the 2001 Louise Wells Kasian Children’s Activity Room by architect David Woodhouse. The original building, opened in 1931, was designed by Edwin Clark.

All of the interior rooms have been renovated with design work by Downeast Design. Recently, extensive landscape work was done by John Fiore and Sons. Many of the art works were restored or reframed, including the Remisoff murals in the Rotunda and the Audubons in the Friends Reading Room.

Significant donations by the Friends of Lake Forest Library made many of the improvements possible.
