Lake Forest Squash Coaches Available for Private Lessons

 

Kim Tunney, Racquet Director, is a USSRA Certified Level Two Coach and D4 Referee.  In 1998, she launched Lake Forest Squash, the nation’s foremost public squash program operating out of the Lake Forest Recreation Center.  She is founder of Squash Across America, a non-profit organization charged with promoting public access to squash via improved program programming, instructional staff development and increased court construction. 

Kim participated in 2007 World Squash Federation Coaching Conference in Calgary as well as those in Malmo, Sweden in 2005, Cairo, Egypt in 2003 and the 2001 Conference at the Victorian Squash Institute in Melbourne.   At these conferences and via international coaching trips, Kim has been privileged to work with coaching legends Geoff Hunt, Roger Flynn, Mike Way, David Champion and Malcolm Willstrop.

As assistant coach to the Northwestern University men’s squash team, she led the 2000 and 2001 teams to Chaffee Division championships with head coach Mark Johnson.  Kim established and serves as high school coach for the Lake Forest Squash high school team and the Lake Forest Academy teams.

Digital video match taping, winners and errors analysis and use of a ball firing machine are additional tools available for use during private squash lessons with Kim. 

Kim is a ten-year former board member of the USSRA, serving as past secretary to their Executive Committee for two years. As past president of the Illinois Squash Racquets Association (1999-2002), she increased membership state-wide and improved the association’s financial position.

Martin Heath, Visiting Instructor.  Martin Heath is a former PSA world #2 player from Scotland.  As head coach for the University of Rochester, he lead the team from #28 in the Collegiate Squash Association rankings to #3 beating Harvard in 2009.  Martin also serves as National under-23 age division and Junior Men’s Coach for the United States squash racquets association.  He is available for clinics and camps throughout the season.

Ian MacGregor, Instructor, Squash.  Ian is a graduate of the nation’s number one collegiate team Trinity College (Connecticut).  Ian brings the latest in drilling and training techniques to our program.  He is available for lessons during the summer months and during school vacations.

Nathan Mathew, Junior Instructor, Squash, Badminton and Racquetball.  Nathan is a former member of the Lake Forest Squash High School team and has played competitive racquetball.  Currently a medical student, he is available for both racquetball and squash lessons.
