Lake Forest Squash Summer Update

 

Summer Camp Dates Announced for June 15-19

US National Junior Men’s coach and University of Rochester collegiate coach Martin Heath will join Racquet Director Kim Tunney in an intensive one week summer camp June 15-19 at Lake Forest Squash.  Continuing players will meet from 10:00 am to noon and elite players will train from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  An adult mini-camp is being offered from 7:00-9:00 pm Tuesday-Thursday. 

 

Coaches will analyze your stroke through video tape, demonstration and drilling; develop a 30-60-90 day performance path for you post camp and discuss strategy and tactics.  Each player will receive a DVD of match play for the week.  Contact Kim to register.

Club Championship Update

The A division concluded with Charles Murphy beating Dan Morgan in three games, 9-2, 9-2, 9-7.  Charles got off to a quick start in the first two games with Dan only finding his rhythm in the third.  Dan won the first four points in game three before Charles fought back to lead 5-4.  The two players traded points to tie at 7-all before Charles won the third 9-7.

 

B division play has moved into the semi-finals.  The C division consolation winner is Alexandra Close who beat Shawn Viverette in a tight three game match.  The C division final is scheduled between Mike Bailey and Bill Moylan.  The 50+ division is off to a slow start due to a few untimely injuries.  Draw sheets are posted inside court one.  Engraved plates have been ordered for the wall plaques for the completed divisions.

 

Annual Deerpath Middle School Wellness Class

7th and 8th grade students at Deerpath Middle School participated in a two week racquet unit during their daily wellness class in March.  In its third year, students learned the basics of playing and have the chance to compete in an all school tournament.   Information on prior year’s activities may be found here at: http://www.lakeforestlibrary.org/dpmsquash.html.
