After decades of devoted marriage, Kay looks for ways to spice up her relationship with Arnold. She hears about a relationship specialist in the town of Hope Springs. Though Arnold is skeptical and prefers routine to variety, Kay convinces him to make the trip to visit the specialist. The two spend one week in a workshop that is aimed at convincing the two to rid themselves of their bedroom hangups and reconnect with the feelings they had when they fell in love decades ago.
