After seeing himself reflected in the children of an orphanage during the Great Depression, a high school football coach gives up his coveted position to take on a bigger task: making something of these kids. For reasons unknown, the scrawny orphans pull on the heartstrings of this coach with a mysterious past. Winning over the hearts of the nation, this coach takes these boys from playing barefoot without a real football all the way to the State Championships.
