Processing book donations requires a lot of time and effort on the part of Friends volunteers. Please review the guidelines on this page to ensure that your book donations are processed appropriately.

The Friends of the Lake Forest Library reserves the right to accept or reject donated books based on their condition and resale value.
Where to Donate
Book donations should be placed on the dock within the area marked by a yellow line. Please take care to not stack boxes or bags precariously, and be sure to not block the doors and stairway.
At all times, please DO NOT put donated books in the library return bins.
When to Donate
Donations are accepted:
- January 1–August 23
- October 1–November 24
- December 1–22
Please note that due to limited help during the holidays, book donations are NOT ACCEPTED on the following dates:
- August 24–September 30
- November 24–30
- December 22–31

Damaged, Soiled, or Musty Books
