Select "Lake Forest Library" from the drop-down menu, then enter your library card number with no spaces between the numbers.
Searching for a book
There are 2 ways to search
Use the magnifying glass search tool to search for a specific title, author, or keyword. You cannot listen to eAudiobooks through a Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite, so make sure you are selecting an eBook. The format is identified right under the image of the book cover.
Browse the catalog by selecting "Collections" or "Subjects."
If you select "Kindle Books" in the navigation menu, you can choose to set Kindle Books as your preferred format.
Borrowing a book
To borrow a book, click on the book cover image. You will be prompted to "Borrow the book" if it is currently available or "Place a hold" if it is currently checked out by another user.
If you select "Place a hold," you will be asked to enter your email address. You will be notified via email when your hold is available for checkout.
If you click "Borrow for XX Days" (choose a checkout period of 7, 14, or 21 days from the drop-down menu), a banner will appear with the message "Success! This title is now checked out to you until ____. See options for the title on your Loans page." Tap on "Loans."
Once on the Loans page, you'll see your book cover with "Download" and a drop-down menu. Select "Kindle Book" from that menu.
Downloading to a Kindle
You will be redirected to Amazon.com. On the Amazon page, select "Get Library Book."
If you are not signed in to Amazon, you will be prompted to sign in. Once signed in, choose the device you'd like the book to delivered to. Your book will be delivered automatically as soon as your device is connected to wireless internet. Don't worry about late fees; books from Digital Library of Illinois/Overdrive return themselves once the loan period ends.
