Start by heading to My Media Mall and selecting Sign In in the upper right-hand corner.
Select Lake Forest Library from the drop-down menu, then enter your library card number with no spaces.
Searching for a Book
Search for a specific title in the My Media Mall catalog by clicking on the Search icon magnifying glass. Type in the title/author/keyword.
Or browse the catalog by selecting Collections or Subjects. You cannot listen to eAudiobooks through a Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite, so make sure you are selecting an eBook. The format is identified right under the cover of the book.
Borrowing a Book
When you've found an item, click on the cover image. You will then be prompted to either Borrow the book, if it is currently available, or Place a hold if it is currently checked out by another user.
If you select Place a hold instead of Borrow, you will be asked to enter your email address. You will be notified via email when your hold is available for checkout.
If you click Borrow for XX Days (choose a checkout period of 7, 14, or 21 days from the drop-down menu), a banner will appear towards the top of the screen with the message "Success! This title is now checked out to you until ____. See options for the title on your Loans page." Tap on the underlined link Loans from that message.
Once on the Loans page, you'll see your book cover with Download and a drop-down menu. Select Kindle Book from that menu.
Downloading to Kindle
Amazon.com should open in a new tab. On the Amazon page, select the yellow Get Library Book button form the upper right-hand side.
If you are not signed in to Amazon, you will be prompted to do so. If you are already signed into your Amazon account, choose the device you'd like the book to delivered to. Your eBook will be delivered to your device automatically as soon as your device is connected to wireless internet.
Don't worry about late fees; books from Overdrive/My Media Mall return themselves once the loan period ends.
