Getting Started with My Media Mall on Your Computer
Start by heading to My Media Mall and selecting Sign In in the upper right-hand corner.
Select Lake Forest Library from the drop-down menu, then enter your library card number with no spaces.
Searching for a Book
Search for a specific title in the My Media Mall catalog by clicking on the Search icon magnifying glass. Type in the title/author/keyword.
Or browse the catalog by selecting Collections or Subjects.
My Media Mall has both eBooks and eAudiobooks. The format of an item is directly under the cover.
Borrowing a Book
When you've found an item, click on the cover image. You will then be prompted to either Borrow the book, if it is currently available, or Place a hold if it is currently checked out by another user.
If you click Place a Hold instead of Borrow, you will be asked to enter your email address. You will be notified via email when your hold is available for checkout.
If you click Borrow for XX Days (choose a checkout period of 7, 14, or 21 days from the drop-down menu), a banner will appear towards the top of the screen with the message "Success! This title is now checked out to you until ____. See options for the title on your Loans page." Select the underlined Loans from that message.
Listening to or Reading in a Browser
On the Loans page, to the right of the cover of the book, select Read in Browser. This will open a new browser tab with the eBook or eAudiobook to stream.
To retrieve the item at a later date, log into your account from My Media Mall and select My Account, then Loans.
Note: If you choose to listen to or read in the browser, your place will not be held for you the next time you log in. You may also not be able to read or listen when you are not connected to wireless internet.
Don't worry about late fees, books in Overdrive/My Media Mall return themselves once the loan period ends.
