New Tech Equipment: Laptops & Hotspots

Borrow a Laptop for in-library use

Laptops can now be borrowed for use anywhere inside the Library! These laptops are available in addition to public desktop computers in the Reference and Business Rooms. With both the laptops and desktop computers, you can:

  • Use programs in the Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Browse the internet.
  • Explore online resources and databases supplied by the Library.

To borrow a laptop for 3-hour sessions of in-library use, ask at the Main Level Reference Desk.

Borrow a Mobile Hotspot

Mobile hotspots are devices that connect Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones, tablets, and laptops to the internet from any location in the continental United States within Sprint's 4G or T-Mobile coverage areas. One hotspot connects up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the internet, and a fully charged device lasts about six hours.

Hotspot lending programs benefit communities by bridging the digital divide and providing connectivity to individuals searching for employment opportunities, accessing health information, and other vital social services.

Borrow a mobile hotspot for 3 weeks. Visit the Takeout Tech Collection (available to Lake Forest residents aged 16 and up) in the Library Rotunda or place your hold from the catalog links below.
