Accessible Entryway & Elevator

An automated front door is available to assist patrons’ entry to the Library.

An elevator on the first floor provides access to all four levels of the Library. Proceed through the adult fiction section to locate the elevator.

Accommodations When Attending Library Events

Additional accommodations can be made for those who wish to attend Library events. Notice should be given at least one week in advance of the event. To enable us to prepare for your visit, please call the Library at 847-234-0636.

Homebound Services

Lake Forest Library offers specialized homebound services to our adult patrons who are unable to come to the Library. Arrangements can be made for books, audiobooks, and/or DVDs to be delivered to the home of any Lake Forest resident.

Large Print Books

The Library has large print books available for loan, with additional titles available through interlibrary loan. Adult Services also maintains rotating collections of large print books at the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Senior Center and Westmoreland Nursing Center.

A large print Reader's Digest is available for checkout. A large print New York Times Weekly is also available for use in the Library.

Audiobooks

NLS at the Library of Congress Talking Book program

National Library Service (NLS) is a free Braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical disability that prevents them from reading or holding the printed page. Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS circulates books and magazines in Braille or audio formats, delivered by postage-free mail or instantly downloadable. Illinois Talking Books and Braille Service

The Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS) provides audio and Braille library service via mail or digital download to any Illinois resident. For more information, visit the Illinois Talking Books & Braille Service.

Magnifiers

The Aladdin Telesensory personal reader magnifies printed material and projects the image to a TV screen. It is available for use in the Fine Arts Room on the first floor.

A hand-held magnifier is available at the Reference Desk for use in the Library.
