With Great Lakes Naval Station to the north and Fort Sheridan to the south, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff were centers of military strength and home front patriotism during the Great War. Laurie Stein, curator of the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, shares war stores of local residents.
