Search Libby in your device's app store and download the Libby app.
Open the app and click on the button that says "Hi."
On the next screen scroll down to Find My Library. The app should find the Lake Forest Library if you are near the Library. If the app does not automatically find your Library, then select No when it asks you if this is your library. Search for the Lake Forest Library and select it.
On the next screen find the Add Your Card link to sign in. Select the Lake Forest Library from a drop-down list of libraries (again). Enter your library card number with no spaces.
Searching for a Book
To find an eBook, you can search by title, author, or keyword using the search tool. The icon is a magnifying glass at the top of the screen.
You may also browse different collections and genres by scrolling down the page and selecting a category. If you don't see the category you want, select Explore our Collections.
You can refine search results by clicking on the "+" symbol at the top of the screen and refining your preferences.
Libby has both eBooks and eAudiobooks. eAudiobooks have a headphones icon on the cover.
Borrowing a Book
When you've found an item, click on the cover image. After clicking on the cover image, you will be prompted to either Borrow the book, if it is currently available, or Place a hold if it is currently checked out by another user.
If you click Borrow, you'll be prompted to click Borrow a second time on the next page. Libby will then give you the option to either Keep browsing or Go to shelf to read or listen to your book.
If you click Place a Hold instead of Borrow, you will be asked to enter your email address. You will be notified via email when your hold is available for checkout.
Your holds and checkouts can be viewed by clicking on Shelf at the bottom of your screen.
Listening To or Reading a Book
Your Shelf is where everything you have checked out through Libby can be found. Simply tap on the cover to start reading or listening where you left off.
Don't worry about late fees; books in Libby return themselves once the loan period ends.
