Brief Job Description:

Part-time, non-exempt, 18-hour week

Salary starting at $19.89/hour, dependent on qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or 5 years' experience in graphic design, marketing, public relations, or other related field.
  • 3 years' experience working in graphic design, marketing, and/or public relations. (Library experience a plus.)
  • Portfolio of work which demonstrates a style and level of achievement compatible with the image of library projects.
  • Advanced computer and information technology skills, including
    • graphic design experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
    • Micorsoft Office Suite.

Additional Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience with photo/video creation and editing
  • Ability to originate or modify vector illustrations
  • Experience with web languages and tools (HTML, CSS, PHP/MySQL, CMS/Drupal)
  • Experience with capital campaigns and fundraising

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Marketing Coordinator, effectively utilize the department's services and resources to successfully implement the library's marketing plan and anticipate the library's future marketing needs.

Primary Duties

  • Provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service to the staff and patrons of the library.
  • Support the implementation of the library's marketing plan which supports the strategic goals and initiatives of the library and heightens awareness, understanding, and engagement with library service, programs, and resources.
  • Participate in the design, production, and dissemination of the newsletter, brochures, flyers, signage, annual report, digital channels (website and social media), and other informational resources.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving marketing strategies and implementation opportunities.
  • Provide support for the library's website and online calendar.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and library trends.
  • Understand and effectively use technology systems and equipment provided by the library.
  • Represent the library at community events, activities, and meetings.
Specifically, these duties my entail tasks such as:
  • Creating content: writing blog posts, social media posts, website content, information to patrons; taking photographs; recording videos; creating digital and print graphics and illustrations
  • Repurposing content for city publications, press releases, community calendars
  • Proofreading copy
  • Using Drupal CMS and helping with website content creation and maintenance
  • Helping with the development of a marketing plan
  • Helping quantify marketing efforts to prioritize how to spend our time and resources
  • Helping with possible capital campaign messaging and the development and production of fundraising materials
  • Helping find new opportunities for marketing in the community
  • Developing innovative, effective marketing ideas and methods

Additional Duties

  • Share responsibility for the building, including overall responsibility for opening and closing of the library.
  • Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.
