May is Mental Health Awareness Month

During the month the May, the National Alliance on Mental Illness observes Mental Health Awareness Month. NAMI is the nation's largest mental health care organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI is an alliance of more than 600 local affiliates and 48 state organizations who work in local communities to raise awareness and provide support and education to those affected by mental illness.

This year's theme for the Mental Health Awareness Month is "You Are Not Alone." The website for the National Alliance on Mental Illness is nami.org. There users may find support groups, helplines, online discussion groups, local NAMI chapters, and more.

The following list of resources can help our community observe Mental Health Awareness Month. Many of these items are available through the Lake Forest Library. This list is by no means comprehensive.
