Morningstar

In Morningstar, screen for public companies, mutual funds, and ETFs. Find market reports, analyst reports, use the screener tool, X-Ray a portfolio for overlap, read newsletters and articles. Morningstar also offers from-home, self-paced coursework to help new investors learn about securities and how the markets operate.

Consumer Reports

Research products, cars, and appliances prior to buying. Consumer Reports tests products thoroughly using a ratings system in order to sift through the good and the mediocre at various price points. Use a buying guide to get an introduction to product formats and types which will help you go to a store or search online with the right vocabulary for what you need.

Chicago Consumers’ Checkbook

Consumers’ Checkbook rates local businesses using qualified customers. Businesses are also rated and recommended by their peers. When viewing a certain type of business, you can also view helpful articles with tips on choosing a business in that industry to visit.
