December 15, 2021 – LAKE FOREST Ill – On Tuesday, December 14, the Lake Forest Library Board approved a Professional Services Agreement with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) for investigation and design services for the repair and restoration of the dome.

WJE is a global firm of engineers, architects, and materials scientists with extensive laboratory and field testing capabilities. The Building Committee of the Lake Forest Library Board recommended them based on multiple criteria, including the strength of their Request For Qualifications (RFQ) submission, their understanding of the Library dome project, their experience with historic structures and completed projects in Lake Forest.

Library Board President John F. Johnson recognizes the effectiveness of teamwork by all stakeholders in the Library Capital Improvement Project (CIP). "The Library Board appreciates the work of the Building Committee and the input from the Lake Forest community in developing the RFQ and providing suggested questions for all the bidders. This collaborative work built upon the work by the Library Board in previous years. We look forward to continuing public engagement with the project and sharing updates as the dome work progresses."

The WJE professional fee and the funds to complete the repair and restoration of the Library dome project will come from the Library’s Capital Improvement Reserve Fund, which was created specifically for building repairs and improvements.
