December 16, 2022 – LAKE FOREST Ill – The Lake Forest Library Board announced at its December 13 meeting the appointment of David J. Seleb as Interim Library Director. Seleb will take over in early January 2023 from Catherine A. Lemmer, who is retiring after having served as Executive Director since May 2016.

Seleb served as Executive Director of the Oak Park Public Library from May 2013 until his retirement in February 2022. Previously, he served as director at several other libraries, including the Indian Trails Library District in Wheeling, the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District, and the Blue Island Public Library. David also fulfilled past roles as the Director of Consulting and Continuing Education with the Metropolitan Library System and as Board President of the SWAN Library Consortium that operates the shared catalog for 100 libraries throughout the Chicagoland area. He was active for many years in the Illinois Library Association (ILA) including as a member of the ILA Nominating Committee, the Chair of the ILA Public Policy Committee, and the Chair of the ILA Fundraising Committee. David earned his master's degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in 1995, and his bachelor's degree from Saint Xavier University in 1989. David is currently a member of the Harwood Institute's Board of Directors and a certified coach. He resides in Lake Forest, Illinois, with his husband, John Cialone.
