Lake Forest Library offers new Curbside Collect service starting June 3

May 21, 2020 – LAKE FOREST Ill – Lake Forest Library staff are pleased to again offer access to physical materials through our new Curbside Collect service. Library patrons can place holds on items at any time. Pickups start June 3 and run Monday–Saturday, 2:00–6:00 pm, at the back dock behind the Library (360 E Deerpath Rd, Lake Forest). Library staff will call patrons to let them know their requested items are ready to be picked up.

Lake Forest Library closes temporarily through March 31, but patrons will continue to be able to pick up reserved items

March 13, 2020 – LAKE FOREST Ill – Lake Forest Library is canceling all programs and temporarily closing the building to public access starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, and will offer restricted services Monday–Saturday, March 16–31 in support of COVID-19 prevention efforts. This decision follows our ongoing conversations with the City of Lake Forest, local health officials, and the announcement that Lake Forest schools will be closed through April 3.

Examine the opioids crisis with the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff libraries

February 6, 2020 – LAKE FOREST Ill – Lake Forest and Lake Bluff libraries present the second annual Two Communities, One Nonfiction Book reading program, Read Between the Ravines (formerly Deep Freeze Read). The program centers on a nonfiction book relevant to the local area with the purpose of inspiring discussion around real-world issues. This year's featured book is "American Overdose: The Opioid Trilogy in Three Acts" by journalist Chris McGreal.

Lake Forest Library goes Fine-Free starting February 1

January 16, 2020 – LAKE FOREST Ill – Lake Forest Library is eliminating overdue fines and outstanding debt for the majority of items in the Library collection starting February 1. By eliminating overdue fines, the Library aims to (1) employ more effective methods to encourage the return of items, (2) re-engage patrons who may have stopped using the Library due to outstanding overdue fines, and (3) use staff time and resources in ways that best serves Library patrons and the Lake Forest community.
